Boalsburg Cemetery Vandalized

On May 4th at 11:26 AM, the State College Police Department received a report of criminal mischief which occurred at the Boalsburg Cemetery. At least 51 burial lot headstones were discovered pulled out of the ground, knocked over or otherwise damaged. The damage appears to be random and some of the damaged historic burial lot headstones date back to the 1800s.

During the investigation a ground mounted spotlight was also discovered damaged at St. John's United Church of Christ, located acorss the street from Zion Lutheran Church.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact State College Police at 234-7150. The Police Department is offering up to a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects.

Damage to the cemetery is estimated at $100,000. The Boalsburg Cemetery Association has set up a Save the Graves Fund. Donations can be sent to the Cemetery Association at P.O. Box 443, Boalsburg, PA 16827.
